One of Guam's oldest and most popular hotels has undergone extensive renovation and has been renamed the Fiesta Resort Guam. It hopes to continue the tradition of hospitality that the Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel was famous for.

Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel.
Located in the center of Tumon Bay overlooking lagoon hues of jade green and cobalt blue, the historic Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel offered 336 beautifully appointed guest rooms. The ocean front hotel lobby connected to tropical gardens of flowers and greens right out to the sparkling white sands. For the past 30 years the Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel was one of the best loved hotels on Guam.
However, beginning in April 2004, the Guam Dai-Ichi started a major renovation, which aimed at bringing new life, a new look, and new facilities by the end of 2005. This upgrade includes a renovation of the lobby, the guest rooms, the creation of new food and beverage outlets, recreational and banquet / meeting facilities. The renovations also bring significant improvements to the hotel's infrastructure, grounds and landscaping not to mention a new name, the Fiesta Resort Guam.
The Saipan Tribune
reported that the Fiesta Resort Guam held a soft opening on December 22nd 2005. In a statement the hotel said:
"Fiesta resort Guam has been carefully designed to reflect the warm hospitality and culture of Micronesia. Guests will see more entertainment , delicious food and beverage options and exciting activities for the whole family's enjoyment."
Fiesta resort Guam General Manager, Jeffrey Schweizer, assures customers that the hotel will continue the tradition of hospitality and "service with a smile" which the old Guam Dai-Ichi Hotel was known for. A grand opening ceremony will be planned for the first quarter of 2006.
