The Sotetsu Tropicana Hotel closed in February 2001, due in part to recessions in Guam's main tourist markets of Japan and the USA. It has remained closed and it seems unlikely that the Sotetsu Tropicana Hotel will reopen.

the Tropicana Hotel Guam was one of a number of hotels on Guam that was forced to close down during 2001, being a victim of the recessions in the island's two primary markets; Japan and the United States.
